The assignment

One production. Several kinds of content.

Our crew was engaged to create a varied package of publicity and behind-the-scenes content during production of the fourth season of Preacher. The work ranged from observational coverage and quick on-set vox pops to carefully lit sit-down interviews with principal actors and short promotional clips for international broadcasters.

The crew scaled with the requirements of each part of the assignment. For the principal interviews and publicity work, we supplied a director, lighting camera operator, sound recordist and camera assistant, together with the camera, lighting and sound equipment.

The challenge was moving between those different modes while working around the priorities, access and schedule of the principal production.

Working inside the rhythm of the set

The crew captured rehearsals, setups, departments and spontaneous moments without interfering with the main unit. The Avalon salt plains were close to Melbourne but looked convincingly like a remote desert.

From quick coverage to a fully controlled interview setup

For the major cast interviews, a full crew created a polished, carefully composed result inside the detailed bar set at Docklands Studios. Camera, lighting and sound all had to work within an active studio environment.
