A day in the life at Workday Sydney

For the Australian chapter of a global recruitment film, we followed a Workday employee from a ferry across Sydney Harbour into the company’s North Sydney office.

Make the Sydney story feel part of something global

Workday was creating a recruitment film about what it feels like to work for the company around the world. Each local story needed to show more than an office. It had to give prospective employees a genuine sense of the people, the culture and the opportunities that come with being part of an international team.

The Sydney chapter followed one employee through a typical day, from the journey across the harbour to interviews and everyday moments inside Workday’s North Sydney office. The visiting production team brought the creative direction and core camera package. We supplied the local crew, equipment and practical support needed to make the two-day shoot happen smoothly.

Inside the office

Interview, workplace footage and the rhythm of a normal day

The office filming combined a carefully lit interview with more observational material: working with colleagues, moving through the space and the small details that make an organisation feel human. A gimbal and slider helped give the workplace footage movement without making it feel staged or overly polished.

Across Sydney Harbour

Recreating the journey to work

Part of the story followed the employee’s ferry commute into North Sydney. We filmed around the harbour and beneath the Harbour Bridge, building a sequence that felt like a real morning journey while giving the international editors strong, recognisable Sydney pictures to work with.

Building the story

A working day is more than one interview

The final film also needed the connective moments between the main scenes. We captured additional material in and around Sydney, including a café sequence, so the story could move naturally from the commute into the office rather than feeling like a collection of corporate set-ups.

A Sydney chapter that belonged in the global film

Across two filming days, the production came away with the interview, office scenes and location footage needed to tell a complete day-in-the-life story.

For the overseas team, the local crew and equipment were already organised and ready to go. For the editors, the material had a distinctly Sydney character while still matching the wider visual approach of the international campaign.
